To whom it may concern,

I am pleased to provide this letter of recommendation for James Jones (Student ID: 100898394), a student in the Computer Programming and Analysis program at George Brown Polytechnic. I had the opportunity to observe James’s academic development during his COMP1236 – Fundamentals of Computing Logic course.

During this course, James demonstrated a solid foundation in programming logic and computational problem-solving. He showed a strong ability to design algorithms using tools such as flowcharts and pseudocode, and he successfully translated these designs into functional Bash scripts. Through his coursework, he developed a clear understanding of core programming constructs, including conditional statements, loops, functions, and the manipulation of arrays and strings. His work consistently reflected attention to detail and a thoughtful approach to structuring solutions.

As part of a collaborative group project, James contributed to the development of a shell scripting application designed to solve several computational problems. The project included tasks such as generating triangular numbers within a defined range, working with mathematical sequences, and implementing a menu‑driven interface that allowed users to interact with the program. This assignment required not only technical programming skills but also effective collaboration, planning, and iterative problem-solving. James was actively involved in both the design and implementation stages, demonstrating persistence and a strong analytical mindset

In addition to his technical capabilities, James has consistently demonstrated dedication, resilience, and a strong commitment to his academic development. Throughout his studies he has maintained an excellent academic record, earning a place on the Dean’s List in each of his first five semesters and achieving a cumulative GPA of 3.69. He is also known for his consistent attendance, engagement during coursework, and willingness to participate in discussions and collaborative learning activities.

In my role as Associate Dean for the School of Computer Technology, I have had the opportunity to observe James’s progress within the program. Based on this experience, I can confidently say that he is a motivated and hardworking student who continues to build upon a strong foundation in computer programming and analytical thinking. He approaches new challenges with a positive attitude and demonstrates a genuine willingness to learn and improve, qualities that are essential for success in the software development field.

For these reasons, I recommend James without reservation for entry‑level opportunities in software development or related technical fields. He has the technical foundation, work ethic, and collaborative mindset required to succeed in a professional environment and I am confident he will make a positive contribution to any organization he joins.

Please feel free to contact me if you require any additional information.

Sincerely,

Albert Danison, B.Eng., MSc.IS, P.Eng.
